Charlotte Clermont interroge nos perceptions du réel par l’entremise d’un dialogue entre les explorations vidéo et sonore. L’aspect performatif de sa pratique s’incarne dans sa manière singulière de manipuler des dispositifs d’enregistrement analogiques, mue par une volonté de transposer l’insaisissabilité de moments vécus. À partir de matériaux provenant de son environnement immédiat, elle travaille la sensibilité chimique de la pellicule par différents procédés d’altération, laissant une grande place au hasard. Titulaire d’un baccalauréat en Studio Arts de l’Université Concordia, elle vit et travaille à Montréal. Ses oeuvres ont été présentées au Canada et à l’international dans le cadre de festivals et d’expositions dont le Festival international du film sur l’art (Canada), Fracto (Allemagne), Festival des cinémas différents et expérimentaux de Paris (France), IFF Rotterdam (Pays-Bas), Künstlerhaus Bethanian (Allemagne), CROSSROADS (États-Unis), Arctic Moving Image and Film Festival (Norvège) et Edinburgh International Film Festival (Écosse). Elle a été artiste en résidence au Studio Kura (Japon), Signal Culture (États-Unis), Fusion Gallery (Italie) et Shiro Oni (Japon).

Charlotte Clermont creates a dialogue between video and audio explorations to examine our perceptions of the real. The performative aspect of her practice, moved by a desire to transpose the illusiveness of lived moments, is embodied in her singular way of working with analogue recording devices. Using materials from her immediate environment, she works upon the chemical sensitivity of film through various alterations, while leaving a large place to chance. She holds a bachelor’s in Studio Arts from Concordia University and lives and works in Montreal. Her work has been presented in Canada and internationally in the framework of festivals and exhibitions, including the International Festival of Films on Art (Canada), Fracto (Germany), the Festival des cinémas différents et expérimentaux de Paris (France), IFF Rotterdam (Netherlands), Künstlerhaus Bethanian (Germany), CROSSROADS (United States), Arctic Moving Image and Film Festival (Norway), and the Edinburgh International Film Festival (Scotland). She was artist in residence at Studio Kura (Japan), Signal Culture (United States), Fusion Gallery (Italy) and Shiro Oni (Japan).
