In là, siellä, cyclical time falls out of joint and folds back onto itself,as though every beginning already carried within it its own ending.

Through this two-channel audiovisual installation, the work explores the porous borders between the human and its environment, between self and other. The two screens display projected images of northern landscapes that could be located either in Finland or along Quebec’s Côte-Nord.

Carried by a fragile voice, the soundtrack evokes an undefined “we,” at once singular and multiple. The sea, saliva, water, fruit, lingonberry juice, and the mouth become signs of a sensory and intimate confusion. Fluids circulate until the distinction between what emanates from the body and what belongs to the outside world becomes uncertain.

là, siellä thus forms a mysterious ritual in which the body and the film’s materiality appear as permeable surfaces, affected by matter yet possessing an indissoluble force of resistance.
